365 Days of Gratitude

August 2016

Let’s Weigh In…

Today I am grateful for the tools that make it easier to track my health. I stopped worrying about my weight right about the time I had surgery on my knee. I put in a couple halfhearted efforts after, but very little success and, more importantly, it didn’t feel good.

Now I am well aware that my body is asking me to pay attention, and I’m glad I have plenty of tech help!

I Got the Beat

Today, I am SO GRATEFUL for my new Bellabeat Leaf. I have been thinking about this item for at least a year, and I finally got it together. It arrived while I was out of town and was waiting for me when I arrived at the office this morning. For serious, I am excited, y’all.

The packaging is so beautiful and functional. As someone who is hyper aware of marketing and layout and color balance, etc – this packaging was breathtaking. I had to go out to reception and show it to Chelsea, that’s how moved I was.

Next up is to install the app and see if this beautified fitbit does the job. 🙂

Home Sweet Home

Last week was cray. We went to Great Wolf Lodge in Washington state, then one night at home, and then we flew to Orlando, Florida. We spent a day at Universal Studios (Harry Potter, what!), and then we spent the next afternoon with friends from Brooklyn in a Disney Resort hotel room. For realz. Then we drove across the state to Sarasota, where we celebrated my Uncle Jim’s life and we got to meet my client (when you work online, you don’t always get to meet your clients). We got home last night and our son started third grade this morning!

As we were flying into Portland, I happened to look out the window and spied the most beautiful view of Mt. Hood (and I assume Mt. Jefferson in the distance). BEAUTIFUL. I took about 50 pictures. Well, maybe only 10ish. I feel so grateful for my new home state and the beauty within. Anyway, this (^^) is the best pic from yesterday. Enjoy!

Refuge Sweet Refuge

I am so grateful for my new(ish) bedroom. It is more spacious than it appears above (and that was before we’d moved in properly), and it also feel a little like waking up at camp each morning. It really puts a smile on my face. 🙂

Going for Gold

Today I am grateful for all that the Olympics represent – the best of humanity. Sportsmanship, perseverance, courage, love, multicultural acceptance, and fabulousness. It has been such a wonderful reprieve from the previous month’s political grandstanding and name-calling. Thank you, Olympians! 💖

Wake Up And Smell The Routine

Today I am grateful to Lifehack Bootcamp for helping me to establish routines to get through life. I have a lot I want to get done and it is easy to get lost in the woods. They helped me mark my own path so that I can find my way.

The Sound of Music

Today I am immensely grateful for the healing nature of music.

Love Means Never Having to Say You’re Sorry <– That’s a Lie

Today I’m grateful for my ability to swallow my pride and apologize, no matter how begrudgingly.

I guess I’m sorry.

Hit the Road, Jack

Last week, my son attended summer camp on the opposite side of the river to where we live. This meant a drive that took half an hour to 45 minutes in rush hour traffic to get him there, plus another 20 minutes or so for me to get to the office. What have I discovered with all this driving?

I love driving!

That’s right, I said it. I love driving. Even in traffic, it’s not bad. You know why? Because I open the windows and the sunroof (thanks for the car loan, dad!) and CRANK my music. Everyone else is miserable in their cars, hating the slow drive to work or wherever. I, on the other hand, am having a dance party in the driver’s seat. I feel 25 years old again.
